Okay, so.....
Been creating more sketches for that character I mentioned and am trying to figure out what to do with her. I know I want her to be more in line for a role model for girls. Which means, no tight or revealing clothes, no sexy poses, references to sex, drugs, alcohol or cigarettes.
I believe there's something there when I look at her. She's cartoony, yet sweet looking, slightly Tim Burton-esque. I'm kicking myself in the butt for never learning Flash, Animation shop or anything similar way back when, because I'd love to make her move and talk.
Ah well, what are ya gonna do right? LOL.
Don't mind me. I need more coffee. It's early yet and I'm not fully awake.
I have been wondering what one should have in their children's art portfolio or just a general art portfolio period. How many illustrations and what subjects, etc. I want to make sure it's well rounded, although I'm not sure how well rounded it would be with various illustrations of one character.
Will have to think on it more.
Have a great Wednesday! :)
Still working on head angles and various every day poses; trying to add my life to my characters.
I've decided I'm going to build up my children's portfolio, but for the moment, mainly with one certain character I created about 3 - 4 years ago.
I believe in her and I believe there's something there; something that can be expanded on. She's very versatile and could turn out to be a great role model for little girls.
So, think along the lines of Forever Friends, House Mouse, and anything similar. Granted they have more than one character, but in time I'll add more.
For now, gotta work on her head angles, body poses and facial expressions.
Need more coffee. So tired.....
Have a great Sunday.
Hmmm, having a problem with turning the character I'm working on. Normally, I create forward head angle or a little tilt, but still looking forward. I've been wanting to create more head turns and facial expressions. Bring more life to her.
It is definitely not working the way I want it to. It's going to take alot more practice. Then there is the question of her mouth. She has tiny lips, or a tiny mouth, rather. To add teeth or not to add teeth, that is the question.
I'll have to draw it out today and see how it looks.
Working on some more designs FM. Trying to build a portfolio for her.
I still suck at doing backgrounds. I find them so darn boring. But, I suppose I should work on them more than I do. Maybe it'll get better if I push myself some more.
Okay, so the FM Zazzle shop was shut down last night.
DH had a fit when I explained to him about how much you get paid after selling products.
For example, I explained about the sneakers; how they sell for 60.00 and you get 6.00 if you make a sale.
He got all flustered and said it should be the other way around and Zazzle should be making 6.00.
I kind of agreed. Something wasn't feeling right. The more I worked on her shop and put up more designs, the more it just didn't feel right.
The fairies are still up and I'll probably leave them up for awhile. Not sure. I think my time with the fairies is over. I've lost interest and I don't have the excitement or heart for it like I used to.
I want to concentrate on expanding FM, creating a brand out of her. I know there's something there, but I just haven't figured out what it is yet. There's so many possibilities with her, whereas in creating fairy art, I truly felt one dimensional. But, that's just me.
I was never as good as some fairy/fantasy artists anyway and that's okay. It's time for a change. Time to discover what I'm really supposed to be doing.
Doing a bit of character design work for a couple projects that popped up.
The ACS site is back up and running, although I do believe the site needs to be redesigned and become more user friendly. I thought it was when I first did it, but now that I look at it, the design is not all that great for visitors. Will have to think on that a bit.
The Faerystore over at Zazzle is getting a few more hits and the FM Zazzle shop is doing okay.
Go check them out and see what's new.

Those, too, need another design. The graphics are too big, I think, especially the faerystore shop.
Just added a new design at the ACS shop over at Zazzle: http://www.zazzle.com/faerystore
Entitled the lil mermaid and spruced an older design that now has it's own shop: http://www.zazzle.com/thefrancismary
Still adding and working on the second, but definitely some more great designs to come.
